Hi everyone,
Well i thought since it's my last day here for my work placement i'd do my blog while everyone is having a kai. Now, i have been here at tvnz for two weeks now and what an enjoyable two weeks, i wanna say thank you to all my lectures that made this possible hahaha nah but for real i think finally seeing it all in action by those that do it as a lifestyle was really umm ......................... awakening. I've been told over and over again that living this kinda life would be busy, stressful at times and other times quite fun, and just in these two weeks i think i can say i've seen it all hehehe.
Umm from the two weeks i had one day off which was the second monday!!! I was sent here in good time!!! Elections. Because of elections we had to work through the weekend, so i got to go out into the field with one of the reporters, we went around to visit different candidates for the Tamaki electorate. This was saturday the 8th. We got back to the office around 12.30 pm so we were wacked man, but it didn't end there that reporter had to go straight into editing and sound to create her story for Sunday mornings show. So we didn't get back to the heritage till around about 2.00am. The following morning we were filming live from the studio with the 7 winning candidates which were Tariana Turia(Hauauru), Nanaia Mahuta(Pare Hauraki, Pare Waikato), Parekura Horomia(Ikaroa Rawhiti), Pita Sharples(Tamaki Makaurau), who we all voted for i hope? hehehe Hone Harawira(Tokerau), Te Ururoa Flavell(Waiariki), and Rahui Katene the new Maori Party MP for Taitonga. So we had had to be at tvnz at 8.00am then look after all of them plus their whanau, we also had other media that wanted to get interviews so we had to try and keep them separate to the MP's until after the show. Once that all finished which was about 1.30pm including cleaning up the kai and green rooms i went home and slept. It was the best sleep i've ahd in weeks. This week has been pretty cruisy with the election being over so it was really preparing new stories and editing and stuff for the next lot of shows. I sat with one of the reporters while she editing one of her stories. I then sat in while they recorded this sundays show. The hole experience was awesome and i thoughrally enjoyed my self.
And last just one more mihi to all the kaimahi at Marae and Waka Huia for putting up with me over the past few weeks.
One more week to go whanau.

Kura Reo
Kia Ora ano Everybody,
On the 28th of September we headed to Rotorua to participate in the Kura Reo that was held at the Waiariki polytech marae, Ihenga. This wananga was one week long, one week full of learning from 8am right up until 5pm which was for me a very very long Day.
We learnt from the best for example Te Waihoroi Shortland, Scotty Morrison, and then Kuia from different areas like Materoa Haenga of Ngati Porou and Hiria Tomoana of Tuhoe.
I tell ya what they were awesome the hole lot of the kaiako i have not heard Reo being spoken like that for a very long time. We had two classes a day, for three days our last day was the last class for the week after our last class we had a whakamatautau for one of our classes which was also a lead up to our Hakari, our feast to end the wananga on a good note. And it was we had a lovely kai with seafood and everything it was mean Maori mean.
The last night they had organised a social for all of those that attended and whanau so we all went and had a good night out. And slept all the way home.

It was a cool az week but i was just a little bit home sick the whole time we were there. But in saying that i went i did my mahi i learnt some new things then i came home to the ones i missed and i am now hoha with again.Just wanna say a big thank you to all those kaiako that i think picked my Reo up just that little bit more and then to our teachers that made the whole trip possible for us all.

Finally
Kia Ora, Kia Ora,
Well today i am going to start my filming i think i am ready and i know what i'm doing so hei Apopo we shall see. This past few week have been good i am all up to date with my media class as for language and culture and Technology i have this assignment to complete before heading to Rotorua for the Kura Reo. The hard thing about this assignment is thinking a story up that i am interested in and that others could enjoy aswell therefore only just the end of last week i know, i know last minute kinda guy. But anyway i decided to do a This is your life type of Doco thingy about my Nanna, because her 70th birthday is coming up Labour weekend i have decided that it will be a surprise aswell for her birthday. I am though finding abit hard considering i left it till now to get photo's and things of her especially since majority of her photo's were damaged in a flood. But hei aha i can do it. So today i am just waiting for a camera to charge then i'm heading to Papatoetoe to a place called Dingwall Foster homes where both my Nanna and grandpa work hoping to get permission to film the area and maybe do a short interview with someone that can tell me aboout the days when my Nanna was there.
So hurry up camera i'm running out of time and things to do.

ENJOYABLE
Kia Ora guys,
Well all classes have been good this week. Umm it's cool because all assignments are tieing in to eachother. This week we done a bit of a dummy run video and it was cool and i enjoyed it a bit but it's the whole working as a team again that's a bit hard only because if it's a group effort and umm if we are all getting marked and or having a tutu then i think then we should all get a say. But i mean when we go into the workforce that's a different story but hey algood not that of a big issue i still enjoyed it. Umm i am getting a bit stuck on ideas for the actual assignment only because it's not a subject that i am getting into too hard out. But it's alright i'm sure i will still get the mahi done and to my best. Can't wait to actually start doing it so yeah. See ya'll next week.

The Begining of third assignment
Kia Ora, kia Ora.
Hey everybody we just started on Video today using Adobe Premiere Elements that i found a lot of fun and also a lot of work. But i can't wait to get into recording and editing and stuff. We done a tutorial with shots from Pataua beach and edited it so that it was like a video of surfing clippings with a backing track of music.
We just briefly looked at storyboards, but personally i think you cant really get a story board until you have all shots, music and stuff. But then again you have to know what you want and how you want it. It's just that the day you record things may not turn out the way you wanted them. But then again that's what a storyboard is aye? Knowing what you want. HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE.
Anyway well see how it works out for us next week.
Bye for now.

Completed second assignment
Well, well, sorry i missed last weeks blog but i will make up for it.
I have just completed my second assignment for both Language and Culture and Technology 2, one thing i found a bit hard was just with a big event like that is finding a quiet place where you can do your interviews, and then of course finding the right questions.
I had one interview where the lady didn't have a role at the event and didn't know much about it so i was a bit stuck as in where to go next in the interview so that was abit hard but umm i still pulled through and got what i thought was a big part of the event so i came out of that one alright.
As for the technical side of the assignment i found the software easy to use although not having enough space was hard and trying to delete things to fit that in was a real big hoha.
I think that my end product could have been a bit better but for my first time i thought it was great.
Yay two more assignments left.

Koroneihana
Well today was a productive day for all other mahi, not so much in the tech class because i forgot to buy some battries for my recorder but that will be done this avo same with my interview then i'll spend apopo afternoon editing my interview.
Well i've just been told to talk about my learning soooooooo..........
......
..........
...............
......................
............................
My learning is going quiet well i may have already said but editing is what i am interested in and this is what i have been waiting for all year. I can learn like sit there and listen take notes and shit but i think i catch on faster when i am actually doing it. Do you know what i mean?
I think also the audio editing will come in handy because my partner and i have started getting into composing, hes a musical person aswell so it's going to be real useful, not that we are making a cd or anything but we myt put it on something so that if we do continue composing we have a record, and like if we get bord of just the nor guitar and stuff we might start adding other instruments in and then this is where the audio editing will come in handy.
uuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
...........................
.....................................
..............................................
........................................................
I am looking at still studying next year but Maori and at Waikato, i have connections in Radio Tainui so it will also come in handy if i get a part time job over there.
I am looking foward to starting my next assignment of creating a piece where i will be featuring my interviews from the coronation on thursday, also looking forward to the trip down there and i''l let ya'll know about that one next week.
Kia Ora, Kia Ora C ya'll next week.

Finished the first assignment
Hi everyone,
Sorry i didnt do last weeks blog but i'm back on board. Well last week we handed our mags and now we are doing audio editing. The mag was alot of fun, but at the same time quite stressful only because the third person was away for a few days, but i mean hey we got it done and on time. I was pleased with our mag i think it was eye catching umm it was professional and it was Maori which is what we were all aiming for. It was really cool.

And we are off!!!
This is only my second blogging but pai ana. I'm really enjoying my mahi so far. First time i actually finished my mahi on time and no need to edit much yay. I'm finding it just a little bit hard to what ever the editor wants i think that because we are working as a 'Production team' then all dissisions should be made by the team. Umm otherwise it's pretty good we are yet to have a hui about how we want to set our mag out anyway. But anywhoo. Our language and culture class was quite cool yesterday, but she really got my brain hurting. Hahahahahahahaa. Na but for real it's been cool and i'm enjoying myself.
Oh and we had Kororia Taumaunu come in thursday last week and she was cool just told us about how and when she started in the industry, i have realised that majority of kaimahi at MTS all started on Radio, i think that must be all kaimahi through out the industry. Well most anyway. Getting back to Kororia she told it how it is and that was cool we kinda need more people like that in the industry, just being real. Anyway i'm getting sore hands and had enough of talking about school so see ya'll next week. Later, over and out.
